For Immediate Release
MagView partners with the Penn State Hershey Breast Center

November 8, 2009

In the spirit of furthering the fight for the cure to breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, MagView partnered with Penn State Hershey Medical Center for a new spin on raising money for the cause.

MagView Project Manager Kate Mehl, a native Pennsylvanian, provided her time and skills as a quilter to create the Survivor's Quilt and donated the quilt to the Hershey Medical's East Campus Breast Care Center for a raffle.

The 4x5' quilt is comprised of fabrics in support of breast cancer survivors backed with a camouflage and pink ribbon fleece.

Mehl commented, "A dear friend of mine lost the battle 12 years ago this November, remembrance of her inspired me with the idea. Then two goals came to mind - raise money for breast cancer education and honor a breast cancer survivor with a fantastic gift of appreciation for their battle.

“Penn State Medical Center was there for my daughter when she was ill, they display amazing quality of care to their breast center patients, and so they were the perfect team to partner with for this project.”

100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Penn State University Breast Center Gift Fund. Tickets are priced at $5 and the funds will go towards breast cancer awareness resources and patient education.

The drawing will be held on December 14, 2009. If interested in purchasing raffle tickets, contact Kate Mehl at (800) 553-8996 or Shanna Gillette, Penn State Medical Center’s Chief Technologist of Breast Imaging at (717) 531-4698.
