Enterprise Mammography Reporting Needs

When Gary Levine assumed the role of Medical Director of MemorialCare Breast Centers, his first challenge was to institute a state of the art Breast Health Information System throughout the breast centers. Consistency and communication between the centers was the key requirement for the project. Having previously used the MagView system at multiple sites, Dr. Levine knew it would be the right fit at MemorialCare. Dr. Levine explains:

Epic & MagView Collaboration

While MagView was clearly the solution within the breast center, it was vital that the mammography information system functioned as an integrated component within the health care system’s radiology information plan, and with their Epic Hospital Information System. The technical teams from MagView and Epic worked together to integrate the two systems so they would share real time patient information. Dr. Levine observes:

“We engaged Epic and MagView to work together in order to establish a system that would meet our aggressive goals. Epic delivers a hospital wide information system that allows us to effectively manage the patient throughout the enterprise. Patient Data: How MagView Migrated Historical Data

Another challenge for the project was the more than ten years of data that had been captured in the mammography information system that was previously used at MemorialCare. This was key to the successful transition. MagView was able to convert all patient history, exams and prior reports so that when the transition was made, nothing fell through the cracks. Physicians were able to reference all prior clinical data when reporting on new findings. Today’s health care environment relies upon dedicated sub specialty care. Levine feels that the same approach should be taken with the information systems. By leveraging the best from each product, an integrated system allows a true best-of-breed solution. Dr. Levine notes, “This allows us to deliver the very best in patient care, and the most efficient and effective system for radiologists, technologists and our breast imaging workflow.”
